Question Reverse Lights

so i bought this 91 n/a with 160k from a classmate and found out that the reverse light does not light up. i asked him if he knew and he said that he tried replacing the light bulb but it still dosent work. what might it be? any advise on what to do and to look for? thanks...

First start with the easy stuff...

- Check all your fuses, make sure none of them are blown.
- Check behind the lights and see if there are any loose or frayed wires.

If everything seems kosher... it could be an electrical problem... which is supposed to be a pretty bad thing on gen2 mr2's from what I have heard.

When you take it to get the oil changed... take it to your local Toyota dealer, tell them you are having some problems with your reverse lights that you would like that have them check over while they are changing your oil. <--- That's how you get a cheap estimate .

If you have a good mechanic you use... he should check it out for free... but I don't know your situation.

that sounds like a good plan but i change my own oil and i dont want to go out to get it changed. i trust my brother since he's intrested in cars and wants to become a machanic. thanks for the advise... immma check the fuse and the wires and see whats up.... and other problem that might cause the reverse lights to not work?
