Hks Bov

three questions...referring to HKS BOV

1)is it normal to have some carbon build up on the BOV? i see some slight buildup...nothing major, but is that normal?

2)what does the screw on the BOV do? im guessing that u can adjust something....???

3)is it possible to make the BOV sound at rest by just revving the engine? or do u have to be driving to hear the pssshhhhh?

thanks....just curious.

1. are u sure its carbon buildup or oil??...
2. the screw adjusts the tension the spring....to change how fast the valve opens/closes....
3. if u rev the car high enough in neutral u should be able to make it blow off.....

im not sure if it's carbon or oil....it's a powdery black substance?
anyone else have the same stuff???

what is the recommended tension of the BOV spring? will making it too stiff or too soft have any bad effects? will softening the spring make it possible to hear the BOV in neutral?

thanks

It's for performance not noise (although too many people use it for that)

I can make my stock BOV blow off if I rev it high enough... you should be able to do it. I think like 4k - 5k rpms should do it... I never have really checked.

^ True... I agree... it is fun. I'd rather be nice and quiet.... give em a little head start.... and then just punch it and let the turbo scream.
