Trying to find a Substitute for 3sgte MAF

I asked before about being able to use a Supra MAF on an MR2 but everyone said it cant be done. Ok so in order to avoid having to spend large amounts of money on a VPC or EMS is there any other "patches" that can be used. Such as like a GM map sensor or maybe a NA Lexus MAF, looking for something that will replace the "Flap" type MAF that I have with something less restrictive or to do away with it in general. Thanks

bump...I found that the supra guys are using GM map sensor instead of their MAF. Anyone know if it works on an MR2 in the same way?

What are your HP levels?

.... people have run over 400 rwhp with the OEM AFM in place.
It is not as big of a restriction as people think.

really! hmm I dont know maybe its just a mental thing my my buddy has a SR20 swapped 240sx and he said that when he got a 300ZX MAF and "rerouted it" basically moved it after the intercooler he said he felt a significant difference. Well I know that there is no whereto put a huge 3 inch supra maf but I think that a Supra "style" would be a whole lot better than the stock MR2 heavy metal, Flap type one. Are you still runnning yours? by the way man whats your secret? Mad props to you I read practically the whole site and that car rides out in the quarter!


BTW Running the Celica version 3sgte top mount intercooler, intercooler sprayer, 15 lbs, removed butterflies, no egr or cold start, 3inch downpipe and 3in exhaust, apex AFC (untuned), hks fcd, nothing major just simple enough to run low 13's on street tires.

12.27 @ 112.32 mph was my best with the AFM in place.
I have since removed it with a VPC.

You can not place the MR2's AFM sensor anywhere other than where it is. It really isn't that huge of a bottle neck.

A for my secret, it is simple. I practice and practice and think. Most drag racers do not use their mind. I visualize launches and then practice them. I have recently started doing the same with my shifts.

99% of MR2s out there could gain at least .4 by improving the driver, not the car.

thanks...yea i realized that its all about the driver when it comes to racing...many of my friends have cars that are fast but they dont seem to have the coordination nor skill yet to unleash the full potential of the car, I consider myself a pretty damn good driver compared to the most, considering Ive been through numerous transmissions, clutches, wrecks in order to get there but what driver hasn't? Thanks
