Question Timing belt$

The only thing I haven't replaced on my 92 mr2 turbo is the timing belt since I brought it from a private owner..How much will it cost me to get it replaced?

timing belt is a costly part to replace. if you can find a good reputable shop locally and not go to the dealer, then you might just save a couple of hundreds of dollars.

Thumbs up Thanks for the heads up

I knew it was going to cost an arm n a leg. I'll ask my local shop for pricing.

If you do the work yourself it will be a lot less.
I get coupons on the mail from Toyota & timing belt "special" are always on there. It's between $150-$200 with the coupon, I have them at home I don't know the exact amount off the top of my head.

^^^You gotta look at the fine print on those... usually they'll say "MR2 slightly higher"

Timing Belt Cost

I just had mine changed at Longo (El Monte).

Timing Belt special - $119 (inc. parts & labor).

Not sure if they still have the special, you may want to call.

Don't plan on getting anything else done at the same time though.. it's a loss-leader for them and they are out to get more $$ from you. I asked to get the water pump changed at the same time (part cost ~ $80, labor time ~ 15-30 mins). Should have been a small upcharge .. ~ +$100-$125. They instead wanted to charge me $375!! And that's the cost AFTER I negotiated. They didn't care that I knew the real extent of what they had to do.. they just kept to their story.. "It's a 2-3 hour job."

Good Luck.
