Question Engine Swap

I plan on swapping a Japanese Spec 3SGTE (and transmission) into a 91' NA MR2. A local shop here in the panhandle of FL (MPH Automod) quoted me a price of $2000 for the labor of the install. I have no other quote to compare it to... What can i expect to pay for a quality installation?

That sounds about right.

In addition to the engine & tranny, you will need the ECU, wiring harness, gauge cluster and axles.

I paid $800. Plus there was an oil change and coolant flush.... so it was around $900 out the door.

I thought so to. I would have gone elsewhere.... but they did a shitload of work on my bro's integra... and a few minor things on his nsx. He has never had a bad thing to say about them. I did have to drive 2 hrs... but it was well worth it.

tallahassee shop

I recently had a japan motor swap done on my 86 mr2 by a shop I found in town here. I got the motor from a source in S. Florida. Strong as hell. Anyway, the shop quoted $700.+extras ei, new water pump, seals, tim blt, crap like that. I bought all that stuff. It ended up costing me about $1100 by the end. They said the TPS was broke on the new swap and my air cond line had a hole in it.(I drove the car w/air on to the shop). So about $400 in BS. The car runs real good so its hard to give the shop to bad a referral.

My quote was about 1G for labor at Gorgeous Garage in San Jose, CA. The rear clip can be found anywhere from ebay to the bay area. Good Luck

The name of the shop here in town is Marks Auto Service and Performance. Phone...850-574-8600. Now that I look in the YP, I see that he does have a site or email add: marksauto@earthlink.net Hey I don't mind hooking you up. But You make your own decision. If you qualify every thing with the owner before hand, you might not get hurt on incidentals or accidentals. The motor I got out of S Florida was cherry. They got the best import comming from Asia on the e coast. Anyways, give them a try.
