Taking off the Valve Cover

When I take off the vavle cover do I have to replace the gasket that is right there?? The BGB doesn't say I need to.... so I'm assuming no. Also... the o-ring where the BPV and IC pipe meet.... anyone have a part # for that? Toyota seems to say it doesn't exist. I'm going to have my IC pipes and valve cover powdercoated red


ALSO: How hard is it to get the vavle cover off? Looks pretty simple.... but knowing it's an MR2.... some crazy shit might happen once I get in there. Any pointers?

I would redo the valve cover gasket while you are there.
They are prone to leak and if you do not do it now ... you will end up going back to do it again.

Taking the valve cover off is no major project.
It is much simpler to take the cover off than to try and take the engine out from underneath it (sorry feeling like a wise guy this morning)

As for the BOV gasket, it is nothing fancy ... take your old one to the autopart store and find one on the shelf that matches. Chances are it will be black instead of orange ... major let down I know

Loosen the sleeves around the intercooler->throttlebody pipe. Remove pipe. Unbolt the throttle body from the intake manifold. From there you just have a little wigglin to do. Of course, I deserve an award, because somehow, I don't know how, but somehow I actually was able to pull it out without the removal of anything but the piping. Couldn't get it back on though, learned very quickly the right way to do it...

You do not need to take off the throttle body for this ... you do need to take of the TB inlet adn the bracket though.

I guess I did some overkill then...lol... I had a hard time though, with some pieces and hoses that were on the underbelly of the TB. getting the valve cover underneath them and still ligning up the cover proved difficult. I went ahead and took the damn thing off to have more clearance...
