Does anyone know how hard it would be to relocate the battery to the trunk? I know I need extended battery cables and then something to hold down the battery in the trunk. Is that it or is there more to it.

It's not too hard Martin, you can use heavy gauge wiring like the kind used for car stereo amplifiers to do the job. Just go to any electronics store and have it cut to your length so you don't have to buy a whole spool.
Run the cable through the rear firewall grommet behind the driver and along either the door sills or under the centre console to the front firewall (I hope that you'll be moving the battery to your MR2's front trunk and not the rear trunk right?).
You should get a battery box to secure the battery in, which is then bolted to the floor pan. That's it, should be able to do it in an hour or two.

I have been thinking about doing that as well... can I do it myself or should I ask someone to do it for me?

Actually I was thinking of putting it in the rear trunk. I have seen it there before. Now that I think about it, it's probably better to put it in the front trunk, so it will be out of the way. I will give it a try.
Thanks Derek.

Front trunk is the place you want it to be, the AW1 had something close to 44/56 weight distribution front/back. Moving the battery to the front will help put more weight over the front tires, reducing the weight transfer effect under hard braking. Where you definately don't want more weight is at the extreme rear of the MR2, say like in the rear trunk, as this will only worsen the rear weight bias.

I would stick it in the front trunk...
I got the battery box and everything set up

I'm going to be using 2g wire...
the wires in, all i have to do is find someone to solder the wire together and also get a dry cell battery

normal batteries leaks gas, but apparently, ppl on mr2faq.com said that there is enough ventaltion in the front trunk
hhhhhhhmmmmmm, better safe than sorry
