Smile oil cooler nessesary?

i have bought a 3sge engine for my mr2. i believe it is from a celica because the totoya inlet badge is up side down.
i was hoping i could do a straight swap for my broken 3s ge. i have noticed on the celica engine there is no oil cooler but there is on mine.
can i get away with out 1? what is the reason for this? is there anything else i havent noticed that will give me problems?

please help!

Usually only turbo engine has one cause oil is pass through the turbo to lub and cool the bearing there. The turbo could go up to 1000C under hard driving and will heat up the oil.
Oil cooler is not needed for NA unless you race all day long on track. Oil cooler may be bad in winter for NA car. The OEM one that pass coolant around the filter is good cause it'll keep oil warm enough in winter. Oil cooler with a rad might get temp too low in winter.
