upon searching for cross drilled rotors i found that there seems to be some for the turbo and some for the n/a,....what's the diff. between n/a and turbo? how much is it to upgrade and are there any big brake kits on the market for the car?
Thanx for the help guy's sorry if this is posted somewhere else
Rotora makes a big brake kit.... runs about $1200 for just the fronts. The Turbo's have dual piston calipers and larger front rotors. I did the NA to Turbo brake swap... and am much happier
i really don't see the need for a big brake kit unless you show your car. Given that turbos have better brakes tha NA's, the NA's provide ample braking for the amount of horsepower. Mine stops on the dime. I suggest getting new rotors and pads. and if that doesn't suite your breaking woahs....convert to turbo breaks.
whats different just the rotors and calpiers? are the monts the same? if they are i'll just get the calipers from a friend and buy some brembo rotor's, steel lines some good pads and be done with it
i have some fun roads around here :-) there is no such thing as too much stopping power
because all the factory parts from Toyota for the gen. II MR2 are dicontinued (to my knowledge) the prices for almost everything are outrageous. Toyota wanted 900 dollars to replace my ceized rear calipers (with pads) ! Holy crap. I went and found myself some rebuilt rear calipers and paid 320 for both of the rears shipped with pads (as crappy as they may be). My point is that the dealer sucks for damn near everything. Although i am also curious as to where you found calipers for $119. Another possible brake solution: try talking to local shops about constructing you some adapter brackets for one type of car to your celica. I know this has been done with Troy Truglio's MR2 (SCC Feb. 2004) so it can wear Wilwood Dynalight four pot calipers for a supra. It is an option, but an expensive one i'm sure.
called my local napa, 109, called the x- jay marks toyota now chapion toyota of gulf freeway....they where 119, however later today i found out those where for rebuilt ones by toyota, price for the new ones from toyota where 329
Going to love owning the mr2...... mod's are so much cheaper than for my supra :-)
