Unhappy light chatter at clutch engagement

I just ahd my clutch replaced and have a light chatter occasionally when I down shift or start off??

i think its your throttle bearing. you might have put it in the wrong way so it make noises when your engine starts.

oh a lot of people have that problem. i could be wrong thought but it's a good chance people usually put it in the wrong way.

your throttle bearing

people always put it in the wrong way because it looks like you can fit it both way from the back and the front. it'll work either way. just that it it's facing from the back than it makes a little clinging sound.
forget it if you don't understand.

i just read your last post not the last two, there is only a chatter when it ingauges downshifting or start off.

Two possibilities here:

(1) a Throw Out Bearing sticking. A TOB cannot be installed backwards, and still have a clutch that works.

(2) the input shaft bearing is going out. I had one go bad on me. It made a chattering sound especially when the clutch was not engaged and the transmission was in neutral.

I found out that Rockauto.com has input shaft bearings and clutch forks for Mk I's just the other day. And no Rockauto didn't pay me to say that.

USA chatter

small noise when clutch pushed in, mostly first engaugement when starting off and down shifting, no slippage just chatter.

If your motor mounts are falling apart, they can cause SEVERE chatter.

dealer installed new clutch seems fine but I was thinking it might have something do do with temperature??, got cooler about the same time.
