shifting linakage

yea i broke my shifter cable i have not clue how i did it all i know is that i was in neutral at a stop light and it goes green so i try to put it in first and it was not there i now that what i broke cause i got under the car and the cable was broken. well anyway i was wondering if anyone has any diagrams on how that bad boy comes out its an 86 mrs

i havent done this before but i do know that the cable can be accessed by removeing the rear glovebox compartment thing by removing the 2 screws inside of it and then the 2 on either side. then take out the center consoul whitch is 2 screws under the little flat spot in front of the shifter (under the radio) then 1 screw in the ashtray (on the 87) and then a series of screws on either side of the consoul. then once removed you can see the cable on top of the gas tank running out the firewall and to the tranny. Removal from the tranny is just a clip and a pin sort of thing if i remember right. Hope this all helps and isnt too confusing
