Views on Power Steering???

I have a 91 NA which I am about to do a Turbo Conversion on, I have the full Turbo Car, now is it worth doing the Power Steering conversion???? what sort of job is ????

Have no problems with driving without PS but thought as I had a full spares car it MAY be worth adding PS.

What do you people think??

Thanks

Graeme

I finally drove one with power steering... and it's annoying as hell IMO. I wouldn't recommend doing it if you are happy with the NON-PS.

Last year I had my power steering removed.
I prefer the MKII with manual steering.

To me it seems like it was TOO easy to move the wheel. I almost curbed the guys car like 3x . Seems to me like you have less control of the car... but maybe's its just cause i wasn't used to it. The car reacts to movement very easily... and HARD! The car isn't huge or anything.... it's not like you really need it. Even in parking lots I think the Non-PS is pretty to swing around once you're used to it.

arcasmachineracing, you answered your own question

Better road feel and you lose a good 30-40 lbs removing all the p/s stuff.

What is required to remove PS? I don't think just disconnect the pump will cut it. New rack?

If you are gonna remove your Power Steering, you will first need a MANUAL rack as the Toyota Power Rack will react very heavy if you just take the Power stuff off, then you can remove the PS Pump/Resevoir, ECU & Motor Controller, as previously stated, you have just ditched about 40Lb of weight.
