it sounds like pinging when I get to the top of the gear, ve heard detonation in a grand national I had this is not so loud, it seems to have started after they were replaced?
yes got new wires cap rotor plugs
yes its cold but I was on the highway today for a while and was merging on to another highway when I down shift and topped out the gear it would rattle a little not loud, very faint. Engine is up to temp.
It really doesn't sound like you are getting knock.
Because of the MR2s very sensitive knock sensor, it starts retarding timing and increasing fuel delivery long before knock would be audible.
If you expereince knock in an Mr2, it is usually felt ... it feels like you are accelerating against a wall of wind ... kinda like trying to run in a pool. The retarded timing just feels like resisitance.
If you are hearing something, it sounds like you have something else going on.
I'm thinking it is detonation I am going to try to check my codes, it only happens when the car is warm like when I boost it alot. Looking into a spawl fan for now and GM knocksensor???? I hope that is in the right direction????
