Your OEM BOV is better, don't bother wasting your money

Not only is the OEM better, but chances are you are not getting the adapter for the MR2 with that BOV ... unless you are buying it from an MR2 owner.

Sure, if you want to weld an inferior part onto your car ... go ahead.

... it might make it harder to go back to the OEM valve when you realize it is better.

apexi BOV

I paid $40.00 for BOV adapter and $80.00 for Turbo XS BOV, if that helps. But you will not not see any power gains or better performance than the OEM BOV. I wish I would have been a member of this forum before I bought and installed it. The only thing is it sounds kinda cool when it goes off and looks cool in the engine bay, but other than that- a waste of time and money. sometimes I even find the sound annoying- like when I"m riding with a date. something to think about before you make a choice.

Oem Bov

no - the OEM BOV vents the excess pressure back thru the intake.unlike the aftermarket versions that vent to atmosphere. any noise that the OEM version may make you don't hear.

you can modify the oem bov so that it vents to atmosphere

ive got a turbo xs type h rfl and i love it, honestly i think that its better than stock because it does open and close quicker, and it holds more boost, in my opinion.. also it you want a more "intimidating" sound go ahead and get an aftermarket bov, like i said in my opinion i think that aftermarket bovs are better if youre running higher than stock boost

This has nothing to do with "opinion," it has to do with fact.

FACT: The xs rfl valve (or any other spring based valve) can not hold more boost than the OEM.
FACT: The xs rfl valve (or any other spring based valve) can not respond faster than the OEM valve.

There is no opinion in there. If you want optimal performance, the OEM valve is the one to have.
If you want a cool noise at the sacrifice of some level of performance, go with the an aftermarket spinr-type valve that vents to atmosphere.
If you want the cool noise and have a valve extremely similar to the OEM's performance then go with the HKS valve.

The OEM valve does make noise and depending on your particular set up you will hear more or less of it.

You can hear mine quite cleary.
