Urgent Help with my 85 mr2

I've bought a 85 mr2 last night, and it died on me when I was on my way home =(
The 3 lights: Coolant Fan, Charge, and Brake lights are on. After doing some searches I've found that it was an indication of alternator failure. So I rushed and got a brand new alternator, slapped it on, and the car started again without the lights on. I was happy for 30mins, when I floored it a little and the 3 lights CAME BACK ON! I'm sure the alternator works fine and the drive belt is tight, so did anyone encounter such problem before and how do you fix it?

Want to drive it on the road asap(feel so sad for not being able to drive it when I just got it!)

thanks

Check the ground wires from the engine and tranny to the frame. IF those come loose that usually happens.

sounds like a couple issues could be going on.... 1... bad battery.... take the battery to an automotive parts store and have them check it for you and bench test it (if it isn't free, go somewhere else)... 2...the alternator plug wasn't pushed in all the way (sounds strange, but believe me this is a problem on toyota's.... if it isn't perfectly pushed in all the way it won't charge). 3...early mr2's have a thin metal band that leads up to the power wire and this helps power pretty much everything... i had that little piece break on my old 86, drove it to the restaurant, came out with my food and it wouldn't start... 4... check your connections on the battery, again with toyota if they aren't on there very tight, then the electrical system has issues

alternator

I've had that exact problem... when you are driving I bet the voltage wasen't over 12-13Vs on the gauge.... I replaced my alternator and it wasent getting the signal to turn on the alternator because I didn't push in the 3-wire connecter all the way in. I replaced my old alternator, drove to a movie, It died again.... I went with a volt/ohm meter because I thought I had a bad wire somewhere, found nothing, took OUT the new alternator and had it checked and it was perfect. When I put the new one back in I noticed when I pushed in the 3-wire connector it snaped once, then I pushed it in some more and it snapped AGAIN... after that it was perfect.

So yah, seriously check that connector, I almost tore out my wiring harness because of that little bastard
