Unhappy 91 mr2 turbo speed/alarm ?

hey i jus got my mr2 tune-up, all stock jus change all the old componments. im alittle dissapointed of the speed on the mr2. seems like it wont breath after 5.000 rpm. mayb i need a intake? but the car seems to be running 15.8-16 on a 1/4 mile. i race my friends 91DX civic and won by a car lenght between, only because i out lauch him. any ideas?

btw there is a switch in my mr2 i was playin with it and the alarm is "armed" but i have no remote for it, so now i cant drive because it have a ignition cut off. the sirean is a clifford but it might be a factory alarm with different sirean....where can i located the main computer for the alarm,or fusE???

The stock turbo (CT26) is a smallish fast spooling turbo that can not hold bost till redline. It falls off after 5500 rpms.

If you were racing till redline in each gear, you were missing your optimal shift points for your power band.
You can redline 1st, take 2nd ot about 5800 and the rest to about 5500 and you will do not much better.

If you want to pull till redline, you will need a bigger turbo.

very informative... thanks very much. I will practice at it. and the math too..
.I have a HKS turbo timer installed. It can measure 60', 1/8, and 1/4 mi. times..I'm wondering just how accurate it is. I did 5 launches on a back road and the second one was 1.6 and the rest-1.98, 2.17, 1.87,2.06. and best 1/4 mi @ 14.27..I'm not a very good driver but working on it. I just get a kick out of it. do you anything about the accuracy of this device?

I don't know anything about the accuracy of it, but I trust none of those devices.
I can gaurantee you that you did not hit a "1.6" in the 60' on the street.
