Question HKS Universal Hi-Power Muffler?

I just found out that in order to get this universal muffler on my 92MR2 turbo I have to remove my cats to weld the muffler on with custom piping of coarse. Is that true? B/c from what I know the sub cat is the only one in the way. I want the muffler on the driverside? All I want is a custom catback using the HKS muffler. I bought an Hks Hi-Power-Size-170mm,Tip Diameter-120mm,and inlet diameter-75mm. Here in CA-bay area smog is pretty strict. What can I do? I should have just bought the whole exhaust system of the HKS Hi-Power and unbolt it when it comes that time to smog and put the stock one back..But thats not the case for me I'm stuck with this muffler..I wish it was as easy as when I got a performance muffler installed on my Camry Cut,pipes, and weld.

You bought a "universal" piece which means it is not made for any car, so yes, to get it on your car you are going to have to custom fabricate piping, flanges, welds, etc ...

Depending on how strict your emmissions are and if they check for both OEM cats, you may not be able to replace either of the cats.
