5sfe tuning or swap?

Hey guys what's up? Just got a 91 Mr2 NA this summer and i'm jsut storing it for winter right now, however as much as i was pleased with the handling and somewhat with the power considering it's only 130 but still moves, i got bored, it just didn't seem as fast anymore. So anyways i was searching the threads and foudn there's a supercharger for the 5SFE which is now my dilemma. Do i go with the 3Sgte swap??? i heard 3rd gen only runs prime on 104 octane (read it in some thread) my motor right now has 158,xxx KM on it so i didn't know if supercharging it would be the best idea either. Does anyone in the GTA region know where to get a swap done and prices??? if not would it be better that i rebuild the 5sfe and supercharge it? any price quotes on rebuilding the 5sfe? My goal honestly is around 200whp if anyone could help me out with this i'd really appreciate it thanks

Keep in mind i'm 19 and my budget is somewhat limited.....
lol
Thanks Again

i woudlnt advise supercharging an engine that has that many miles on it. although the 5sfe is a pretty strong engine (mine has 210,000 on it ) and it pulls really strong with virtually no problems at all yet. The easiest way to hit 200whp is a 3sgte swap, prolly not the cheapest way but its the safest way to do it without occuring many problems. you can pick up a clip for roughly around 2000-2500 and install for about 1000-1500. Im 18 and on an extremely tight budget, i juts put up with the 5s as long as i can and now im finially ready for the 3s, the only downside is that yes the gas price will be higher for a 3sgte becasue from what ive been reading you ahve to run at least 91 octane sometimes 93. To sum it up go with a 3sgte

The 3SGTE is recommend for 93 octane.
The Gen IIIs are often quoted at a higher octane level because they were only available in Japan and they have a different method for calculating octane.
You can not compare "our" octane numbers to theirs.

5SFE that is the 2.2 16 valve like mine rite?

im 21 and i have a budget myself...bills, school etc etc...i jus got a 91 mr2 also....i had the same question also....i really wanted to know if i can re build the motor , build the internals strong enough to take 15 lbs of boost. or will i save money by jus swapin it for a 3s-gte?

hopefully if i can..i can push 300 (thats all i really want...i'll b real happy)

my question is pretty similar to yours black5sfe....i have a farrarai red one
