MKII JDM fog lamp questions

I recently purchased the JDM fogs for MKII. As you may know they are directional fogs that turn with the steering wheel. At this point I do not wish to have them function w/ the wheel. I just like the green/yellow color of the light and want to have them serve as conventional fog lamps.

I am worried that they may not be centered. In other words, if the donor car did not have her steering wheel straight center then the fogs won't be that way either. Anyone know if they default to center position once the ignition is off?

Also, in the future I plan to make them function as intended but will need the ECU for them. My car has manual steering so there is no electrical whatsoever involved in it. You could say the car does not "know" where the steering is at any time. Were these JDM fogs only on cars with the electrohydro. steering or is there a transducer that converts mechanical movement into electrical siganls?

And finally, there is a 5 pin plug at the back of the fogs for the steering function. Does anyone know which pins are for what and which a hot 12 volt lead can be attached to in order to perhaps center the lamps if they do not do so by deafult once the ignition is off. Japanese owners of MKII would be a great help here.

i've got a JDM MR2 MKII GT, those directional fog lamps come only on GT models, so lucky me.. what i have observed is that when i turn the lamps off while my steering wheels is not centered, they go back to the center position. so not to worry..

That is great to hear. I really did not want to mess with trying to center them. Does your car have electrohyrdo power steering?

I've rarely seen the brainbox of this system on ebay. But, I doubt that's all there is to it. There have got to be sensors in the steering system which would be hard to retrofit.

Has anyone you know done this retrofit? A write up would be great.

Thanks!

yes, my car has electrohydro power steering, im not sure but i dnt think the sensor of the steering position is located at the power steering system. i think it is just located at the steering column.. but i have to check first.. because i had my front wheels disaligned once but the steering wheel was centered, and the lights wud go with the direction of the steering wheel not the front wheels.. and i saw a small lever under the steering wheel that goes with the steering wheels position, i think that is the sensor.. but im not so sure.. il have to check.. il message you when i confirm it..
