What year MR2 are you talking about? They are harder to work on than most cars... but if you keep up the general maintainance you will have nothing to worry about.
Are you asking if the specific car you are looking at has problems or if MR2s in general have problems?
MR2s are not any more problem prone than any other car. They are well built Toyotas, that when properly taken care of will last forever (or longer )
I have 200,222 original miles on my engine and still running strong and I have beat the hell out of the car
thanks for all the information, I went and checked out the car today it's a 91 mr2 NA for $5500, everything seems fine on the car just the usual some scratches and one of the cornors are comming off but here's some more info : Car is very clean no problems at all car runs very smooth, clutch and brakes are still very new

car has about 94,000 i'm the 3rd owner clean title never been in accicend, my mr2 is very rare because it has low miles and plus a lot of people don't want to sell their mr2, so don't miss the chance first come first serve.
i took very good care of this car now selling it for a truck, this car is very reliable, never droven pass 100miles on a trip, gas saving car.
yes i'm planning to buy one, yesterday i went over and checked out the car, it runs well, i couldn't really see any problems with it, but the above is the details on the car. I was just wondering if it was a good deal or if i'm getting ripped off.
That price is too high IMO. You could pickup a '91 Turbo for around that. Granted it has all the stereo shit in there if you care about that.... and I wouldn't consider almost 100k low mileage. My supra is 10 years older and has 20k less than that. Offer him $4,500 and see if he takes it.... still a little high... but I guess worth it with the DVD player and such.
my 91 na has lasted me for a looooong time, The odometer broke at 179000 and its been that way for a year and a half. Im guessing im nearing 200,000 but i have no idea. The only thing that matters is that it runs strong and i do beat the hell out of it sometimes. They are extremely reliable cars you just have to keep up on the maintinence.

The engine is in good condition, tune up at 139k, new tires , new rear axles, alarm, no leaks, runs great, interior clean. The bad 2nd gear grinds occassionally, lights in cluster gauge are out, minor body flaws (dings/chip marks) things you experience living in the city. Motivated to sell, no lowballers.
Wondering if it's worth it.
i hear that if you're planning to get an MR2 get the turbo and not the NA
id get the tranny checked out, and offer 2700-2900. The good is that the non turbo is still as fun to drive and is super reliable. The bad is that its not as powerful as the turbo. I paid 1600 for mine but it had lots of mileage on it. Also being in the cali area, from what i have seen the prices for the mr are much higher than other parts of the us. Not sure if its true or not. First thing is first thought check the tranny because you dont want that going out on you, $$$$$$$$ lots of money $$$$$$$$$$ to fix
I paid $3500 (in California) for my '91 MR2. It's a white, hardtop, all stock, non-turbo, 178,000 miles. Paint still looks great! Only a few minor minor problems, like the power mirrors don't fully work. Car still runs great and has lots of power. I'm very happy with the purchase.
