Question I was asked today if...........

......the new spyder with the 6 speed has shift control buttons on the steering wheel????? I know the car is a hard to find and don't know if anyone here has one that could let me know.

Ya,... there is one with a clutchless tranny that you can shift on the steering wheel.

Thats the sequential shift. It's like an auto trans that you can shift manually from both the floor shifter or on the steering wheel. Personally, I would stay away from it and go for the 5 speed manual.you will get better performance and gas mileage from the manual..not to mention the manuals are much simpler and will hold up better. I have an '01 Spyder with a unorthodox 8lb flywheel and windowed kevlar clutch. It revs up way quicker than stock http://members.cardomain.com/mr2bad .

The SMT is a true clutchless manual transmission. You HAVE to shift it with the buttons or the stick. There isn't a torque converter or anything like that. There also isn't a drive gear for automatic shifting.
