Someone is selling me their MR2 Turbo 93 for 7500, KBB says 4500. the car has leather ..CD. 123,000 miles.
also another thing is that the a/c piping has a leak. the mufflers are huge and ricey and i want to put back to stock or smaller pipes and a cat convertor is not in place. she has the stock cat but not the stock muffs.
'93 is "the" year for the MR2 turbo. you left out alot of info though. paint condition, tires, engine condition, suspension, interior condition, etc. but at that mileage if you can get for between 4 and 5k, you'd would be doing good. just depends on the condition it's in. do a car fax too.
well if the engine is still pulling good it may be worth a little more. What really matters is "is it worth it to you"? you'll be doing the work.and footing the bill.. But these cars are getting rarer all the time. plus, they are so cool..$4500.00 is the blue book value for that year/model in "EXCELLENT" condition- thats with the A/C working
Blue book values don't really apply to our cars. They never sell for blue book. I wouldn't say '93 was 'the' year. Still had the ugly tail lights, ugly wing... etc. (not ugly... but not near as nice as the '94+ models got) If you don't want those aftermarket parts you will probably be able to sell them for a pretty good price. Find out what kind of exhaust is on there.... it could be worth some money. You say 'mufflers' so it could be the Greddy PE, HKS Dual Draggers or the Garage Fukui (sp?)..... could also just be some POS that got thrown together. But all of those exhausts in good condition will sell over $600 used. You say the cat converter is not in place... then you say she has the cat? I'm assuming its just not installed? This would mean there is a downpipe on there.... find out what kind that is also and you could sell for between $200 - $300 depending on what kind it is. Get all the details and we can fill ya in better . I'd offer 7k for it.... sounds like a nice car.
Magnaflow 7" pipes... they look ugly cause they're bent downward not straight...
she has down pipes not sure what brand.
the car also has "upgraded turbo fins" which i know what that is but dunno what that would do....
i drove it but dont know how its supposed to feel since the only MT i've driving is my dads dodge dakota, 3 feet for the clutch, each gear is like a foot away.
Thats a custom exhaust and sounds pretty ugly... haha. Personally.... I would advise against a cat after just removing mine.... that thing is a HUGE pain in the ass. I've never stripped so many rusty ass bolts in my life... not a fun job. You are in Cali though..... so that will present an issue with smog. But she will also be responsible for smog... so maybe you can get away with it for a couple years. You will notice a big loss in performance if you take that downpipe off too. The upgraded turbo wheel just means that the turbo was rebuilt. It really doesn't do a whole lot for performance.
PS. Where in Cali are you? If you are close I might be able to help you buy this thing.
It does sound good....ishcoleobo is right though the blu book really doesn't do the MR2 justice. But it does give you a point of reference as to its general worth in the dealer market. I agree-make her an offer.
There are a lot of exhausts that have huge dual mufflers that don't look ricey. The TKO exhaust I believe comes with a 7in mufflers and looks nice. I dunno how big MRQ's mufflers are but those look awesome too.... think those are dual draggers but I know he changed some part of the exhaust a while back.
