jdm 3sgte question

hey everyone. i'm totally new to the forum and i was wondering if a celica 3sgte motor could go into a 93 mr2 that currently has a 5sfe in it at the moment. the car is manual transmission. i found a link on total jdm.com

http://www.totaljdm.com/index.cfm/fu...dm_engines.htm

thats the 3sgte celica.

i noticed that the 3sgte from an mr2 is slightly more expensive

http://www.totaljdm.com/index.cfm/fu...dm_engines.htm

will i be able to fit the celica one into an mr2 2nd gen?
what exactly are the differences between the two??

thanks greatly appreciated.

The motor will work fine... but I'm not sure if the top mount will clear the engine lid. If not you will have to but an MR2 intercooler and piping... which would probably make the cost the same. Not to mention they would be selling it to you with an all-trac tranny.... so you would have to go out and buy an MR2 turbo tranny and axles unless you wanted to use your NA one which wouldn't last too long.

And to top it off..... I'm 99% sure that TotalJDM doesn't have any 3sgtes..... make sure you ask them before you make any huge plans. If they tell you they will have them in 4-6 weeks... that means they don't and won't have any.

Hope this helps.

PS... these guys are pretty close to you http://mr2warehouse.com ... they have good pricing and i've never heard a bad thing said about them. They regurlarly get 3rd gens in too if that happens to be a way you want to go.

I take that back.... I just tore my turbo out of this guys car today... and he had a Celica top mount in his MR2. Not a celica motor... but the intercooler fit with some 'modifications'. Guy had a 2nd MR2 radiator in his frunk as a heat exchange.... it was quite sexy.
