tonight's activities (teardown etc)

so we picked up our mk1 today...made it into the garage about 5 pm. started teardown on the engine and the interior... bought it as not running, and found that half of the vaccum lines are cut or missing...kinda appears the previous owner just started buying new parts, coil, fuel rails, injectors. we bought new plugs wire etc and are putting them in...along with new seals and belts... also intake manifold makes is covered in carbon deposits, anyone suggest somthing to clean this off...if looks really stubborn. also we need a battery...but we dont want to spring for an optima, any suggestions...tia

just to add to the confustion...what type of coolant do we need? if someone could just list fluids or give me a link that would be great (cause they all need to be drained and replaced)
