Buzzing Sound When Starting - Bad Starter?

Last night I went to start my car and I turned the key and it made a loud buzzing noise. I turned it a second time and it buzzed again. I turned it all the way off, waited a few seconds, then tried again and it started normally. Is it the starter?

It sounded like something was moving, but the engine didn't sound like it was cranking.

What's a flywheel? Whatever it is, it's probably stock.

could possibly need the battery terminals cleaned thoroughly -- check those out

Do as mister3 says.. start at the battery cables. make sure their on tight and both the terminals and cable ends are clean so you're getting a good connection. if their OK,then you should check your battery. the auto parts store will do this for you(pep boys, etc.). if your battery checks out, it's probably your starter. the gear on your starter only turns the fly wheel-whereby cranking the engine over. I doubt it's your flywheel .if your flywheel was stuck, that would mean your engine is locked up. that would only happen if you ran out of oil or blew the engine. it does take "alot" of amps to run your starter and turn the engine over. starters are pretty pricey too. what yr/model car do you have?

'91 mr2 non-turbo

My battery is not at 100%. I'll start by cleaning the terminals and maybe using my battery charger.
