got a '91MR2 Turbo. looked at BGB and it has all this stuff to remove from top and bottom to remove turbo. can the turbo not just be removed thru the top of engine bay?

You can pull the turbo right out the top. But everything must be disconnected. The turbo mount must be taken off.... the oil lines... coolant lines.... cat... upper turbo pipe... etc. Once the nuts/studs come out.... just slide it right off.... twist it.... and it will come right up. I've done it on two cars and didn't have to loosen up or remove the exhaust manifold on either of them.

Thnx ishcoleobo and Dr. J.. I thought it look like it would come out that way. but after looking at the BGB I was gonna take it to my tech friend and pay him instead of doing it myself. you guys save me MORE money...you guys are the bomb!!!!!!!!!! I love this site and learn something all the time....not to mention save money , time and mistakes............will I need a new gasket between turbo and flange? or is that reusable?

Go to Toyota and order a 'Turbo Gasket Kit'. It has all the gaskets that you will need for taking out the turbo and putting it back in
