a lot of times those cables go bad...we just replaced the one in ours (it was old rusted etc)...if it truly just needs to be reattached its not that bad, my advice if you want to crawl under the car and do it would be to remove the exhuast, that gives you a lot of room to work. it may be a good idea to ask him how much oil is in there...when we first bought our car we got a 5 quart oil tub to drain into...turned out there was more like 7 in there... but in general most na cars arent a huge pain...the hand brakes on these things are border line nutorious
