t-top leak stop

you know where the 2 rods that come out of the t-tops and go into the grommets in the front and rear pillars to clamp them down? ToyotaCountry makes a set of grommets that have thier holes off center so that when you clamp down the t-tops it's alot tighter against the rubber seal on the roof.It works. I had a moderate leak on the driver side and a bad leak on the pasenger side. It has been raining all day and night here for the past 2 days and not a drop has leaked in. they were kinda high priced for what they are- 4 plastic grommets. $20.00 for the set plus $8.00 shipping. I think the 4 grommetss couldn't have weighed more than 1oz. but considering the best price I've seen for the pair of rubber roof seals is $142.00US off ebay and $286.00 from the dealer, $28.00 is a bargain price for the fix.takes about 10 min. to remove the old ones and install the new set..I know alot of us have expereinced this leak problem....FYI for my MR2 Brothers...

What i did i had a leak in me t-top near the lockin mech. What i did was just get some silicone and just smooth i over both sides of the roof section. Then let it set and just put the roof back on. Cost me nuthin and seems to work. It s rained but not hard. Waiting for a storm to test it out for me. Cost me $0.

I tried that too .it stopped leaking, but the silicone did not stick and eventually came off. This offset grommet kit did the trick though. for $28.00 I'm happy.

I think there is a write-up somewhere on the web. Can someone post it here? Also, what is the part number of this grommets?

http://mr2.noegruts.com/ttops/ttops.htm---- this grommet kit is different from the one I got from ToyotaCountry. I just had to pop the old grommets out and press in the new ones.. this other kit requires u to get machines screws that are not included in their kit.maybe its a better kit...I don't know. but the other one is so simple it doesnt need instructions. a real no brainer...even my dumbass could do it....
