Bogging

Hey guys,

Something weird happened to my 2 today. I was driving fine on the highway but when i turn on to city street my iddle dropped to about 700 rpm and just starts to cycle between 700 and 1000 rpm. When I step on the gas to go, the engine dies. I started the car again but it still bogs and if I step on the gas, pedal to metal, rpm would not go up for like 3 seconds and the car begins to jerk like crazy. The car begins to move slowly and jerks and i can hear poping sound and metal pinging. I still have my foot all the way down on the floor. When it goes pass 3000 the car accelerate like normal. this happens all the way home. What could be wrong?

Too lean? Too rich? injector problems? spark plugs? cap, rotor, wires?.....

Sounds like a really bad vac leak ... I would check all your intake pipes and the BOV.

Thorough check of hoses. No leaks. Engine would start for about 30secs then turns off. When I try to give it gas, it sputters and pops and then there are also pinging sound, like how a bent valve would sound. Anyways I'm gonna get it rebuild when i have cash.

sputters and pops..like the exhaust??sounds like a spark problem...popping on the exhaust is caused by unburnt fuel...check the ignition parts..especially the ignition coil..the wire that goes to the dist. cap from the ignition coil..the clip might be broken..and not connected properly to the dist. cap...

Something like this happened to me not too long ago. it would die if i tried to turn it on. the only way it would stay on is if it was past 3k rpm. i pulled over and it turned out to be the afm cable that plugs into that box on your intake. But now all is good.
