N2O/Supercharger/Turbocharger Questions

Is there any reason that one would get a turbocharger over a supercharger?

Is N2O much better than turbo/super chargers?

Is there a difference between an MR2 turbo and an MR2 non-turbo with a turbocharger?

Do any of these options affect gas milage or just horsepower?

What are some good brands/models of N2O/superchargers/turbochargers for the MR2 and where should I buy them?

more hp = more gas use
n2o is quick and spensive its just quick power turbos and sc's are permanent and wont cost you like $50 a tank to get filled
the internals on turbo charged vs NS engines that are made turbo are all diffrent and its not recomended by most to do that

www.howstuffworks.com is a good site to do some reading.....it also seems like ur new to the mr2 world....read the sticky at the top of the forum and you'll find lots of info in those threads too....

a. age old debate...one isn't better than the other..both have their pros/cons

b. yes...the turbo makes the difference....more power/torque

c. both....more boost....equals more power....less gas mileage if you have a heavy foot..

d. most ppls do not SC an mr2...mk1s came SC from the factory....there are numerous turbo kits available for mk2s....

1. http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/Story...bochargers.htm

2. Never (except for cost/power)

3. Yes. The turbo MR2 is reliable. An NA with a turbo added is unreliable.

4. Generally speaking, if you increase power you decrease gas mileage.

5. Wow ... there are a lot (Except for the superchargers).

Yes, I'm pretty new to the MR2 world. That's to all for your input.

I read the howstuffworks page the other day on super/turbo chargers. I've also read the sticky topic.

So this is what I've gathered:

Is there any reason that one would get a turbocharger over a supercharger?
Turbochargers give more boost, but take time to kick in. Superchargers are consistant, but limited in power.

Is N2O much better than turbo/super chargers?
Probably about the same? Requires you to keep buying gas.

Is there a difference between an MR2 turbo and an MR2 non-turbo with a turbocharger?
Yes, but a non-turbo with an aftermarket turbocharger would be about the same.

Do any of these options affect gas milage or just horsepower?
Horsepower is increased and fuel usage is also increased, so gas milage will probably be about the same.

What are some good brands/models of N2O/superchargers/turbochargers for the MR2 and where should I buy them?

I've seen several models of N2O/superchargers/turbochargers ranging in price from $50 to $1500.

So which one will I get if any? I don't know. I'd probably opt for turbo over super. N2O still seems fascinating, but I don't know how well it would perform. I have a non-turbo engine. Would these mods have as much effect on a non-turbo? Could they harm the non-turbo engine? I'm probably going to sell this car eventually, but not soon. Is it even worth it? Would one of these mods raise the selling value? I'm confused.

Actually I said I'm not going to sell it anytime soon. It will probably be at least a year before I even begin to consider selling it.
