Question feasible moto swaps

i searched around but still couldn't find anything about this, so sorry if it's been asked already. but i was wondering if dropping an st205 3sgte into a sw20 was possible? and how hard it'll be? both the sw20 and st185's 3sgte motors are pretty much the same so swapping an st205 3sgte into a celica would be just about the same as dropping one into an mr2 too, right?

have u taken into account that the mr2 is rwd and the celica isn't??....why make things harder than they have to be...use a 3sgte from an mr2 to go into your mr2...

this guy put in a gt4 all trac motor in, but a mr2 motor into a mr2 would def. be easier.

if i were u i'd go w/ the 2nd gen. The addtional price for the 3rd gen isn't really worth what you get performance wise?

^ You can easily use the all-trac motor.... but you have to get an MR2 tranny anyways.... so it's just a lot easier to buy an MR2 clip. If you plan on leaving the car mostly stock I think 3rd gen is a great option.... if you plan on modding the hell out of it... you may as well just save some cash and go with a 2nd gen with lsd.

dont forget the Celica 3SGTE has a top-mounted intercooler, so you'd have to get an intercooler off of an MR2, of buy an after market one...

also, the valve cover would be upside down...

Actually the ST205 has a a2w intercooler.... and is a pretty cool upgrade for the MR2. You have to throw a heat exchanger in the front and run water lines back.... but its an awesome upgrade. If you didn't get an ST205 clip you would have to get another intercooler like razo said. Any way you look at it.... its more work than need be. If you do get an ST205 clip I'll trade you my stock IC for your stock IC

^--oh, i had been talking about USDM 3SGTEs, since like it was said earlier, 3rd gens arent worth the cash, if you can easily get the same power from a 2nd gen...

ALSO, if the guy's hardcore, i've seen people put air-to-liquid intercoolers in their trunk..

thanks guys for the info. so from my understanding, if i wasn't planning on doing much to the motor, i should just get the 3rd gen motor?! or is it ideal to just get the 2nd gen and then use the extra money to up grade a few parts to make up the hp? what are the big differences in the 2nd and 3rd gen motors? cuz i'm just planning on adding a few things like a new IC, BOV, etc. do you guys know of anyother places where i can get all the things i need to do a swap for a good price? and is it better to just have a shop swap it then do it yourself? i wouldn't mind doing it myself, im just afraid i'll run into problems i wouldn't know how to deal with.

just get a 2nd gen USDM MR2 motor...

it's already 200hp/200 lb.ft of torque, and can be upgraded relitavely easy...

plus, you dont have to worry about looking for 97 octane, or whatever Japan runs these days...
