Australia Might be importing a 1990 MR2...

Hi all. some of you may have seen I was wanting a supra...well I also love the MR2 and have been offered a better deal for one that is elligable for import here in October. Its a 1990 MR2 Turbo, black targa top for USD$5000 (AUD$6500), needs minor interior work on the seats and a new steering wheel but the engine has been checked by a mechanic in Japan, modded engine, but one dent on the passenge side just behind the door (easily fixed, my mates a panel beater).

So for USD$5k landed is that a reasonable price for a MR2 turbo model? I love the specs I've read up on about the 3S-GTE so I might be the proud owner of a MR2 in November/December if all goes well.

Thats what I was thinking, prices on imports here after landed is usually brutal...unless you do all the foot work yourself which takes time I dont have with my job and all. The rims are pretty sweet too, I'll definately upgrade the brakes but at first interior then fix the body work that needs doing.

how many miles(km) on it? the '91 US model w/ 100,000miles (166,666km) are valued at USD$5,100.00 if that comparison helps...and it sounds like you're getting some extras too..hope everything comes thru for you...

It's got 63,379 miles on the clock (which is 102,000kms)...has a Carrozzeria navigation system which plays DVD and MP3 cd's according to the sale listing I was sent through. I looked them up and they are not cheap by any means so thats a plus on the sale.

The dents while one will need attention (scraped in just behind the door, had worse) the other is a minor scrape on the paint which is easy fixed. I'm guessing the 2 body imperfections are why its listed at that price, that and the leather needs a little work (good thing I'm friends with the right people, and I was to change the colour of the leather anyhoo). but for a car in the 63000mile range I think its a good buy...it hasnt listed the engine mods so I'll have to go through the engine if the sale to myself is sucessful.

you'll have to put up with me impatiently wanting this car straight away if I can put a down payment to hold it for myself...It'll be my first turbo car I own myself (I've had supercharged V8's but thats it).
