I can't be sure about the 3sgte... but the valve cover on my 5sfe has been taken off ALOT to be painted different colors.... over the last 5 removal\installs I'm still on one gasket, with no sealant.... seals fine, no leaks.... I am always cirtain to clean the gasket and mating surfaces really good before reinstalling it.

OK, to me it looks like it would seal without a sealant and be resuable-at least a few times. just wanted to get a second opinion..Think I'll go wothout sealant..thanks

OK, there was no sealant on old gasket so i guess the new doesn't need it either. already reinstalled new valve cover. no leaks..those valve cover "screws" suck though...u would think toyota would have come up with something better than that.. ....thanx MR-355-5sfte

I'm not following the "valve cover screws" part??? is it like the 5sfe Valve Cover? massive 23mm nuts that don't fit any socket in your toolbox? that kind of thing?

no, the stock 3-sgte has big philip head screws instead of bolts. I would much rather have a bolt or a allen head instead of that shit... I saw some aftermarket allen heads on the Twos' r Us site. I'll get those one of these days.
