UK Pic update

Hi, it's been about 5 months since I had the 1mz-fe conversion done. So I' thought I would post some pics of how the cars coming along. I have now had the heat shields chromed and put a set of 18 inch wheels on the car. I have also put on a Toms air scoop and customised the side vents anda carbon fibre bonnet. Sorry if some of the photos are a little dark.

Hi it was a n/a before the swap. I looked at dropping a turbo engine in but liked the idea of a v6 in her.

Looks amazing! How much faster is it compared to the turbo? Wouldnt the V6 throw off the delicate handeling?

how much power does that thing have, it looks awesome. How much did you pay for the complete swap?

From what I've been told it's about on par with a standard rev/gen3 turbo. I would say the handeling has not been effected too much. I put a set of 40mm lowering springs on her and the car still looks as if it has the original springs on. So I would imagine the engine is lighter than the previous 3s-ge. It would be great to comare the weights of the two engines. I've also dumped the air con pump, spare wheel, tools and have added a carbon fibre bonnet. So I'm hoping to have lost a fair amount of weight. I hope to get the car weighed next week. The prob with the swap is finding the parts, there are no manual v6 camry in the U.K. and on top of that the camry is not a big selling car like it is in America. So finding a donor car was not easy, on top of that the engine had to be mated to a mr2 gen2 e-153 gearbox, driveshafts etc. A celica gt4 clutch was used and a flywheel had to be custom made. Custom made engine manifolds, exhaust system and de cat. Plus wiring the whole thing up. I also had to buy a non theft deterent ecu from the States. All in all not a cheap swap however living in the States you will be able to source a manual camry gearbox and flywheel and not have the issues of finding a non theft deterent ecu. You have to hear the sound these things make, pure sex!! I hope to be getting some soundbites do in the next week or two and I will post them up then.
