USA mr2 '88 mystery light brain tease

ok, so i am stumped. i have a 1988 manual non-turbo mr2 and it has a LED lamp to the left of the steering column adjustment lever. this red lamp doesn't show up in the owner's manual and never came on before. this lamp doesn't appear in my Haynes manual either.

now it is on even with the key off and out. does it mean A) i get a free ice cream cone; B) it is time for me to file my tax return; C) the factory installed self-destruct device timer is now engaged; D) ?

please give me some feedback.

It's prolly an aftermarket alarm indicator. Have you recently disconnected or killed the battery? See if it pushes like a button.

nope, it isn't a button. it looks like one of those stupid "light-bright" toy lights. it sits there. glaring at me. evil. waiting.

haven't disconnected or killed the battery lately. there is an alarm kill switch installed in case you need to pull the battery. i toggled. no change in the evil light. i suspect it is telling me to file my tax return...

Try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes then reconnect, see if that turns it off.
