would it be a better choice to turbocharge a 5sfe engine or doing a 3sgte swap with upgrades? anyone know the performance capability of a burien 5sfe turbo kit?

I'll tell you first hand that in the long run you will get more out of the 3S-GTE swap. The Burien Kit is nice, it is what I have. If I had to do it over again though I would have made my own turbo kit utilizing the CT26 turbo. The Burien kit is limited because they block of the wastegate and control boost with a pop off valve and the intake side of the turbo is on the driver side making it difficult to utilize an intercooler. Not saying that it can't be done, it's just waaaaaay easier if it is on the passenger side.

3sgte will be mucho easier and safer in the long run.
