What exactly is the problem? MKII's have a tendency for the e-brake cable to freeze up. Mine is actually screwed up at the moment.

i just got the car. it has been sitting for two years, so i was told. i assumed it had the e-brake up during the two years, plus there is no tension when i release the handle. also... any idea about why my clutch takes so long to release?

My ebrake did the same when I bought my car. I took it back, and they loosened it. But if I used it in cold weather and left it over night it'd stick regardless. You just have to wait until it gets a lil warmer outside. This is a common problem. Whatever you do, DON'T dump hot water on your rotors or they will warp or crack. There really is no need unless you park on an incline. Just throw it into gear when you turn the car off.

As for the no tension issue, check if the cable snapped.

My ebrake has the same problem here in chicago. Lately on these cold days they would stick and squeal, yet on warmer days (we have very few of them currently) they are fine.
