yes. there's a miata in my region who is supercharged and cooled via PWR intercooler...it's weird and cool all at the same time!

yeah, it's an air-to-water set-up. it's great as far as difficult mounting locale is concerned. ah! and i was able to put my hand on the charge pipe after a few an autocross heat...

it's an intercooler, ya know? some say that A2W intercoolers feel crappy compared to A2A. i think that the efficiency alone found in A2W ICs are worth the little bit of weight that one gains in an A2W system.

where some may disagree, water-to-air intercoolers are very efficient. i'm sure MkII guys may/will argue that a trunk mounted IC is great, but i just can't see past losing all of the trunk capacity.

do you have ANY IDEA how much pressure drop would occur with having a FMIC on an MR2?!?!?!?

i run a w2a i/c core from a st-205 gt4 celica with my 4agte in the AW11. the w2a set-up IMO is much more effective in a mid engined car as you dont quite get the air flow through a a2a i/c in a mid/rear engined car that you would with a front mounted a2a i/c on a front engined car.
another bonus of the w2a set-up is that the i/c core can be mounted in the engine bay which means less/shorter piping which equals less lag and crispier thottle responce than what is normaly associated with longer piping used for a2a i/c (especialy some front mounted ones).
all you need is a good pump (i use a Davies Craig EBP (Electric Booster Pump) and preferably a aluminium heat exchange mounted to the front of the car.
at the moment i run a a/c condensor as my heat exchanger (budget at the time was low ) though i have scored a used aluminium radiator off another car that i will cut to size and make some end tanks for, then my w2a i/c set-up will be working at its optimum.
i used 20mm OD aluminium pipes down the undersides of the car and heater hose to join them to the heat exchanger, pump and i/c core.

after very spirited driving you can really feel the difference between the outlet pipe from the turbo to the pipe from the i/c to the TB. i'll have to buy myself a air temp meter oneday.

what would you guys think about a roof mounted scoop that directed air down to the fire wall and mount an intercooler against the fire wall. do you guys think something like that would work or not?? it was kinda a weird idea i have been thinking in my head. but it has been so long since i have seen the engine compartment i dunno if there is enough room in there for one. thats kinda why i want a hard top instead of a t-top. if i could make it work. not only that i think it would look kinda cool if it was done rightnot only that but you could tie it in with the intake system to get cooloer air to start with
