Question lowering q's

hey im new to tn and ran into some trouble while trying to remove my shocks on 91 MR2... i was wondering if you need to take out the whole shock, take off the brake lines, and the put on the aftermaket springs...or can i just leave the brake line attached to the body and shock, compress the old spring, then remove it, compress the new springs then put onto the shock...? i dont know if this makes any sense...but to keep it simple... i need help with lowering my MR2

i put a pro kit on my two, i didnt remove the brake lines at all... it has been a while though, so i cant remember all the little details. It isnt difficult, it took me about three hours since i had never done anything like it to a car before.

there are two bolts that connects the strut to the control arm (those need to come out) and you need to release the sway bar endlinks from the strut as well (it may be easier to remove these from the sway bar and keep them attached to the strut, but i dont remember)

hope this helps

My dad and I took the whole shebang off. We did springs and shocks though. It would probably be doable without taking it all off, but it's a lot easier to get at everything with the assembly on a workbench. If you're just doing springs, you can probably get away with it though. Good luck, 2's look even more badass when they're dropped.

I just finished doing the suspension on mine, got some tein coilovers ss on there.. anyhow I would think it would be easier to take the whole thing off. Plus you can clean everything easily if you take it off and have it nice and spotless.

yea, i found it easier to take everything off when i did mine. taking the brake lines off wasnt fun if i remember.. i think i had to cut the bracket with a dremel type tool, and bend it away to get the line off... its been a few months, so im a little foggy.. but if it were me.. id take it all off.. you dont wanna put too much stress on those brake lines by letting them hold the entire weight of the strut/springs.
