I just just the wires off the factory deck and figured out what the wires were with a multimeter, connected them with butt splices to the harness that came with the new deck. Everything works great. I can help ya if you need some of the wire color codes.

Most places that sell stereos sell an adapter to plug it up. Go to best buy or circuit city if they don't.

I have a 92 mr2 and I'm in the same boat. I took my car to best buy and they told me that the car has a factory amp behind the drivers seat. Now, the plugs you bought plug into where the amp is. The amp is a bypass, thats why the plugs you bought don't fit onto the radio. Now, what I decided to do is rewire the whole system because i'm throwing in my own amp and all that other fun stuff.

It's actually much easier to rewire the whole thing than to try and use the harnesses.

I took constant power from the clock, ACC and ILL from the cigarette lighter, and the light around it, and GROUND to a bolt behind the stereo. Then I just ran my new speaker wire to the new speakers I installed. This was much easier I found.
