tranny gear grind

hey all, ive been having trouble wit my 91 NA mr2's tranny. wen ever i put it into reverse with the clutch fully depressed it grinds as i shift it. any one kno the source of this problem??

No problem...

Reverse has no syncros. Shift into first and drive forward just enough for it to engage.... then put it into reverse. Should be smooth as butta!!!

You might wanna adjust your pushrod play in the clutch pedal. It shouldn't grind at all. The BGB actually uses reverse to test your clutch pedal engagement point because it doesn't have a synchro. Even if the above solution did work, check your pushrod play anyway and adjust if necessary. It might improve your overall shift quality.

if the MkII has the same 'square' bushing in the shifter linkages, sometimes, turning it 90* will improve shifting a bunch. so do Speed SOurce brass bushings.

Indeed. And bleed it while you are at it. That usually helps as well.

Yes, it's an N/A. It IS a 3.0 liter V6 though. Does that matter?
