Boost Gauge Q

Wondering how the connection is going to the gauge in the dash for the boost. Doesn't it actually measure the air pressure right from the engine bay all the way to the cluster gauge, or does it transfer over to an electrical signal?

My reason for asking, if I knew where abouts I can access the hoss/tube for the air pressure I can hook it up to a transducer then hook it up to a nice digital read out. I would be able to read the boost very accuratly..

Depends if you have an electronic or mechanical boost gauge. Mehacnical boost gauge will get its signal from a vacumm line.... electronic will get it from an electronic signal.

well thats what I'm trying to figure out. What would stock be for a '91?

your trying to figure out how the stock boost gauge is setup? theres a pressure sensor in the engine bay that most people tap their vacum line off for their mechanical boost gauge... i would guess that the stock boost gauge in the gauge cluster got its readings from the ecu...
