XXX fitting cd player to mr2?

yo i am thinking about fitting a new cd player to my 1993 non turbo 2L toyota mr2 it is capable of holding a double din unit. at moment it has a single unit which is original tape player. i have been told this is very hard 2 do but i don't know why do i need any special sort of unit? . Just wondering if any of u mook's would know better cheer's!

I HAD an indash tv and cd\dvd player in my den (stolen) ... I had to link the two metal frames together... you know, the metal sleeve that slips over the unit. I linked them together and set them in place... then measured the gap between them and the center panel.. about 3\4".... and then filled the gap with "plastic weld".. a 2-part epoxy that fuses plastics together.... then proceeded to sand it level... then primed, and paint. a little more than the "usual install", but that's how I did it.
