anyone have any info or experience with larger tires/wheels than stock14s on the mk1?

yep!
for 'serious' driving, i use 15" Ronals i brought back from Germany...i use Bridgestone Potenza RE 730's (205/50/zr15) on the rear and RE750's (195/50/wr15) on the front. i think they are 36mm offset.

for around-town or bling or whatever, i'm driving on gunmetal Tenzo RS5's (17's)...right now, i am waiting to hear from a potential tire sponsor, but i am also running a staggered set of tires on those...215/40/17 rear and 205/40/17 fronts. 42 mm offset.

they are ok. i have done some autocrossing on them. i guess the thing is, my brake bias was set-up for the 15's (didn't take the time to really mess with the set-up) and the tires i was using just sucked! no, i don't really notice the larger sized wheels/tires, but i guess that's due to good boost! LOL
