9" front and rear? 9 is a little wide for the front. but great for the back... you need to keep the wheel stance staggered...

you may rub in the front, i guess youll have to just get them on and find out. and the offsets should be okay, i got 17x7 front and 17x8 rear with 35 offset and it looks really good

I have 17x7 205/40 in front with +42 offset. they come very close to edge of fender wells without stickking out. it does rub once in a great while. usually going slow over a bump or something..

What about if i used a spacer and flared the front fenders, do you think this would look odd...

no. i think it would look awsome. as long as the rear matched and it was flared too with the tiresas close to fender flares as the front...I'm using 1.25" spacers in the rear and the tire tread is even with the edge of fender wells..

I dunno i can't say i've ever seen ready made ones. most are custom made.. i do have a pic on my computer at work of an MR2 with massive tires on it and wide fender flares that remind me of the Late '70s Porsche Turbo Cararra's that came with the real wide tires ,flares and whales tail spoiler. I'll post that tomorrow sometime after I get back from Little Rock.. it looks insane.. sounds like what u might be thinkin' of..

I have that wheel. Mine is 9" but I forget what offset I'm using in the rear, but the fenders had to be rolled.

HOLLY CRAP! that car is bad-ass! I love the rear view of those flares.... I just wish they would've left the wing off.

as for the fitment of the 17x9 up front, you might have a problem. I have 17x8 and they would've rubbed except I fab'ed some flares for clearance. but the fitment in the back should be perfect without spacers... that size wheel with only a 38 offset sounds odd to me, but I guess they come in all sizes...

MR2BAD: I have yet to get my lazy-ass a camera so I can take some pics of those intercoolers I have lying in my garage... soon though. I hope. I'll also have to post some pictures of my freshly painted 2 on my sony imagestation site.

There's no way that 17x9 +38 is fitting up front as is.

First off, you'll be rubbing the strut housing on the inside, and 2nd you'll be out past the fender. You'l need a spacer to get it away from the strut, then you'll be even further out past the fender. Some serious modification will be needed here.

The rear 17x9 +38 will be damn near perfect. I think a 9 inch rim with a 35 offset sits perfectly flush with the rear fender. Don't forget, you're gonna have to roll the rear fender to fit these without rubbing, but it'll look damn good.

All in all, I have to recommend against this. The rear is perfect, but the front won't fit. And if you modify it to fit, it's gonna look way strange with a flared front and straight rear. Plus, the car will handle like poo poo. The MR2 is designed for a staggered set-up. Meaning wider in the rear, not the front.

If I were you, I'd try to see if somebody else has a set of 17x8's. This way, you can swap 2 and you both have a staggered set-up that'll actually fit.

Just my 2 cents.
