My friend just bought a 91 MR2 Turbo, and the first thing he wants to do is replace the stock seats with some racing seats. He wants to spend 500-600 for a pair. Can anyone recommend a good seat, that is supportive, comfortable, and has the holes for the harnesses. Pictures of your guys set ups would be great. Thanks
I am really pleased with my Sparco Sprints (right around $600 for the pair at ogracing.com).
Keep in mind that your seats are one the most crucial parts of the safety equipment on your car. I would only buy a safety rated seat (FIA or SFI).
The Sprints are FIA rated.
... wouldn't it suck to get rearend with an aftermarket seat and have it fold in half with you in it ... or break loose from the floor and send your belted body through the windshield? Seriously, be careful with eBay special seats.
a friend of mine got rearended in his lexus and both seats (2 people in the car) broke backwards...... they were stock seats though
i plan to get sprints myself.... there's a group buy on www.hachiroku.net for locals around here at least (which since you're in WA you would be a local)

i just put in my new fake TRD seats and TRD harnesses from off ebay.... they look better than any big name seats, and are very quality.. hah. paid 250 shipped for seats and 50 for pair of harnesses...
Hey Jeff, quick side question. Would you recommend the Sprints for daily driving? Or is there a different seat that you, or someone else, could recommend for a car that is both daily driven and auto crossed?
The Sprints are a basic race seat so there is not extensive padding.
If you are looking for comfort, this is not your choice of seat.
If you are looking for a good seat that will hold you in place (esspecially laterally) I would highly recommend it.
