First Mods?

I am new to the MR2, and wondering what would be the first mods to perfrom on a 91 MR2 Turbo, 80K, bone stock. I am more familiar with Hondas and NA cars. I have read that boost controller is a great way to increase power for cheap. Is this true. Any help is great.

Thanks

First do a tune up. Oil, lube, ignition wires, plugs, distributor rotor, check ignition timing... etc.

Then you could get...

Boost Controller
Boost Gauge
Fuel Cut Defencer (make one, buy a brand name one, plus the hose to your boost pressure sensor.... or PM me... I have a couple laying around)
New exhaust (downpipe also if you have the $)

Read this also... http://mrcontrols.com/primers/power.htm .... it will help you out a lot.

I have a 91 as well. I did exactly what Ish said. But I couldn't afford exhaust, so i just had the catalytic converters knocked out. I like the pull on it, but if you can...get an aftermarket exhaust.

Great, thanks guys!

How much is a boost controller, and how diffucult is the install?

What kind of 1/4 mile times could you run with 220whp?

Boost controller is ~$50 shipped (http://twosrus.com). Take it to the track and tell us about the 1/4 mile time.... it will vary from driver to driver

EDIT: Install should take less than 30 minutes. Getting it to boost what you want it to is the tricky part. Remember... you can't boost over 12psi without an FCD.... 17psi with eliminating fuel cut.... and you REALLY want a boost gauge to go with that controller or you most likely screw your motor up.
