Exclamation Need Advice!

Well, I believe the leaking of the rear main seal on my 91T had become a big enough problem that it needs to be fixed. Does anybody know A) what is involved in doing this and B) Approx. how much it will cost me? If anybody has had to this and would like to give me some help, that would be great! Thanks.

rear main seal? basically count on the same cost as a clutch job. i would change the clutch/clutch cover/throw-out bearing while you're in there. perhaps even do the trans axle seals.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna have to go get that done here in a couple weeks. I'll let you know what labor is on it. So, if i replace the clutch and such, what would you suggest I replace it with? OEM, or is there something better. Thanks a lot guys!!

there's all kinds of clutches out there. if you're stock, an ACT performance clutch would be good. cost less than an OEM from dealer. unless you're going to race at the track, stay away from unsprung or pucked clutches...

i dunno, i have never paid for service for any of my vehicles. but it sounds about on-par. i have heard anywhere from 60-85/hour for technician service. ouch! i turn all of my own wrenches.

ToyotaTechGeek,
I figured u did all your own work. I take it you are a Toyota Tech? I guess someone else probably does the billing..Average tech labor here is $65.00/hour and $85.00/hr for electrical.. anyway, good to have someone with your expertise on the forum...

the OEM is a good clutch. I have 145k on my abused stock clutch and it's still going strong.although when it comes time for a new one I think I'm gonna get an Unorthodox kevlar clutch and 10 lb flywheel..
