Question on Spearco Intercooler and Blitz BOV

Hello Everyone, First post from a new user who just purchased a 93 MR2 Turbo.

A Spearco intercooler, with spal fan, was included with the car. I just installed everything and it looks great. Is there any reason why I should install the pressure switch that turns on the fan? It makes more sense to me that directly wiring the fan and let it run all of the time for maximum cooling would be best. Am I wrong in thinking that?

A Blitz BOV was also included. At the end opposite where the BOV is mated to the engine, there is a little threaded hole. On pictures I've seen, there is a bolt that fits there. Here is a picture there. The small bolt is at the top.

My questions are: "Do I need this bolt?", "Is there something special about this bolt which keeps me from replacing it with another bolt?", and "Does anyone happen to have a manual they could fax or email me?"

Thank you for all of your help and I am very happy to join here.

To run the fan "full-time", simply disconnect the wire from the sensor located on the engine lid near the center.

As far as the "bolt", don't mess w/ it. Its to make adjustments.

Hey ... Fabio found this board as well

DPuett, there is no harm in having the fan run all the time. A lot of people do it. As Fabio pointed out, just unplugthe temp sensor on the engine lid.

As for the BOV, that bolt/nut combination on teh end of the BOV is what adjusts the spring tension in side. Without that piece, you will never be able to set the BOV correctly.

Regardless, I would recommend using the OEM valve.
It is much better.

Thanks for the reply. Both of you.

You know, I read somewhere that using an aftermarket BOV can actually reduce HP.

Still, the Blitz BOV looks really nice it seems such a shame not to use it.

You wouldn't happen to have a couple references that explain why not to use an aftermarket BOV would you? I'm not disputing what you say, I just wanted to read a little more about it since this is my first time in dealing with a bunch of this aftermarket stuff.

If you have the AFM (air flow mter), you are definitely losing performance with the Blitz valve.

None of the after-maket spring based BOVs will respond as fast as the OEM valve or be as consistant at various boost levels. You also can not run too much boost for the OEM. The more boost you run, the harder it stays shut. That blitz unit will open with enough boost thrown at it.
