From what I've read K&N is a high quality product opposed to other aftermarket filters. Whether or not it improves proformance opposed to those others, there is no way to really tell unless you get it on a dyno. I would suggest K&N because of there history and warranty guarantee.

Apexi Power intake all the way... did you get a cone style K&N filter or a drop in replacement filter for the stock one? If you got the cone one, does it come with an intake tube? just curious.

I have the cone K&N intake... fashioned some piping, and it is friggin' loud! it's louder than my exhaust under full throttle.... has a really deep sound.. until 3,500 rpm.... then it has a higher pitch note...... all in all -- a good mod.

Apexi Power Intake is kinda a rip off IMHO. I would spend $50 on a K&N before I would spend $100+ on some sales pitch about 'swirling' your intake air.

I spent like $70 (shipping included) on a cone K&N filter and a chrome intake tube on Ebay.

i've heard the A'PEXi power intake is the best as far as performance, but would it be as loud as the K&N? it seems like everywhere I look the k&n fipk is as expensive as the apex. On twosrus its 155 and the apex is about the same. is there a better place to find a better deal for the k&n that isn't ebay?

go buy the cone K&N filter from auto-zone or advanced... or someplace like that for about $35-$45..... then purchase some intake piping... mine reaches to the driver side vent, and only set me back the cost of the filter... as I had some spare intake piping lying around in the garage.

every kit i have ever seen does not include a metal (chrome) 90 degree elbow (the small section of tubing right after the throttle body. They only have the filter, and an add on to that ugly stock elbow...

Luckily, i bought tubing and made my own... im getting an engine swap in the summer so i have no use for it...

If youd like, id let this thing go for CHEAP... polished 3" tubing all the way from right inside the drivers side intake to the throttle body. the filter is blue (like above from autozone) and includes the blue silicon reducer and connector.

all in all it cost me about $100, but like i said, ill let it go for very cheap...

pm me if you are interested.

Mr2 above all- i want to get an K&n as well do you have a cone type one.. is it the 57i kit from K&n as i dont know which one to get
either make a custom 90 degree pipe to a k&n which would be next to the vent or use a kit which would bring cold air to the air filter ??

what kind of set up would sound better?
and what setup do u have ??

cheers

I think a lot of you are confusing which engine everyone is talking about

The NA is much easier to slap a cone filter on since it does not have the AFM.
The turbos end up having to pay extra $$ for the adapter plate & bracket to get the filter onto the AFM.
